Only 10 members of Andover Archers took part in the Hampshire Indoor Championships Weekend but they came away with an impressive array of awards!
Saturday saw the Open WA 18 Shoot and highlight for Andover was Vicky Loader seeding 2nd in the morning ranking round and then fighting her way through the head to head knockout stage to reach the final. Sadly she fell at the final hurdle but a Silver medal in such a strong field of Lady Compound archers was a major success.
Sunday was the day of the actual County Championship and Andover Archers supplied the new Champions in several disciplines:
Ladies Compound (Vicky Loader), Gents Barebow (Brett Stringer), Junior Lady Compound (Sophie Meyrick) Junior Lady Recurve (Aliyah Ramirez), Junior Lady Longbow (Kerry Stringer).
Sophie Meyrick, Saskia Meyrick and Aliyah Ramirez took the Gold Medal in the Junior Team category and we also won a Silver Medal for the Compound Team with Vicky Loader partnering Paul Baptiste.
Congratulations to all of our new Champions and well done also for strong performances by Julian Piper, Ian Portman and Simon Smith in the Gents Recurve!
