Five members of Andover Archers took part in the Hampshire Archery Association County Championships weekend held at Waterside Archers, close to Exbury Gardens in the heart of the New Forest.

Julian Piper, Ben Robinson and Carl Tarry (Gents Recurve), Sarah Tarry (Ladies Barebow) and Abbie Loader (Ladies Recurve).

The archers shot a WA 720 ranking round on the Saturday morning with an Olympic Style Head to Head knockout round following in the afternoon. On the Sunday, it was a full WA 1440 round to decide the County Champions for each discipline.

The start of shooting was delayed on the Sunday as due to thick mist the archers were unable to see the targets!

There was considerable success for the Andover club members. On Saturday, Abbie was ranked in first place after the 70m round and went on to reach the final of the knockout only to lose on a one arrow shoot off after tying the match at 5 points each. On Sunday, Abbie had another great day winning the WA 1440 to become HAA Ladies Recurve County Champion. Ben Robinson also had a fantastic day finishing runner up in the Gents Recurve competition.
