Saturday 9th May saw the club’s first 3D taster session, where members old and new were invited to come along and try their hand at something different.
The session was organised and run by 2 members of the club (Sandra Olufsen and Brett Stringer) who spend many hours hunting down and trying to hit a range of animals that like to lurk on the club field, but their days are numbered when the arrows start to fly.
The sun was shining, birds were chirping and lots of targets were hit, and by all accounts, a great time was had by all.
The day started at 10.30am with tea, coffee and short a chat. Sandra explained the basics of 3D archery, answering any questions that came up, (and no the animals aren’t dead, they are all made of foam)…
The real fun then began, with 9 different foam 3D animal targets placed on the field at distances between 5-25m. Juniors and Seniors showed up with a variety of bow styles, intent on trying something new (some bow swapping occurred as well). There were even members with previous 3D experience that turned up for the fun.
The morning ended with some delicious burgers made by our Members Rep. Alison De Burgh, a nice lunch and a little more chitchat.
Maybe the bug for 3D archery will spread a little further at Andover Archers now…just remember, archery is supposed to be fun for all (unless you’re a foam animal!)
